Google SEO Marketing → Analysing Fashion Brands
Kuwaii clothing is a Melbourne-based fashion brand known for its commitment to environmental sustainability, slow fashion, transparency and ethical production. Its aesthetic is elevated yet strikingly simple, modern, classy, timeless and feminine.
As someone passionate about fashion, I wanted to analyse how a fashion brand like Kuwaii approaches SEO. Hence, I’m exploring what they do well and where they could improve, and as a result, deepen my understanding of digital marketing strategies to support my future career in fashion.
What's Working
Giri, Kumar, Sharma, and Shukla, researchers in the field of data science and cloud computing, highlighted effective SEO techniques categorised into on-page and off-page in their 2019 article “A Brief Review on Search Engine Optimization”. Based on their insights, Kuwaii demonstrates strong on-page SEO across its website by naturally integrating keywords that align with its core identity of ethical, accredited factory production and local manufacturing.
Furthermore, Kuwaii’s site structure is user-friendly and strategically organised for optimised search engine crawling and indexing.
Its key content, such as product names, is prominently placed at the top of each page in large fonts and featuring relevant terms.
This is followed by supporting tags and descriptions utilising keywords like ‘timeless’ and ‘sustainable’ to effectively communicate the brand’s values and product themes,
Their site also includes quality internal links across key pages and the brand’s social media platforms.
Potential Improvements
However, Kuwaii could strengthen its off-page SEO by improving its social media presence. According to SEO expert Francis Valentino (2023), SEO is now increasingly influenced by social platforms and content marketing. Hence, Kuwaii could respond by creating more authentic and high-quality content, such as trend-driven posts and brand storytelling reels. As a result, help increase its engagement, website traffic, and ultimately boost its Google search rankings by sharing its brand identity in a way that is informative but also relatable and entertaining. This is especially important as more users now rely on social media to discover brands and websites.
Kuwaii could also increase its influencer and user-generated marketing (UGC) to further boost backlinks, brand exposure, and improve its search rankings.
Influencer & UGC marketing can generate backlinks --- for example, through IG/TikTok/Facebook tagged posts, YouTube video/shorts descriptions, or blog features.
